André Lemaitre : a painter of tradition
André Lemaître (1909-1955) was born in Falaise. He painted some 4 000 canvases including many Normandy landscapes, from Falaise to Honfleur. He remains a painter of the great French tradition, inspired by nature. The town of Falaise pays homage to the artist with a museum, endowed with 90 works which reflect his life and his art in all its diversity. His work is characterised by a certain unity which however distinguishes four different periods you can discover in this museum of Falaise.

Exhibition
For those of you passionate about impressionist art, Normandy is going to be one of the best places to visit in Europe this summer. Normandy is not only home to Monet’s Giverny house and garden, and the many sites such as the Rouen Cathedral and the white coastal cliffs he and other impressionist artists painted, but this year the region is hosting what promises to be a great festival: a programme of over 100 events and exhibitions for June through to September this year. The museum proposes a special exhibition with 40 paintings of our local painter André Lemaître.
