André Lemaitre : a painter of tradition

André Lemaître (1909-1955) was born in Falaise. He painted some 4 000 canvases including many Normandy landscapes, from Falaise to Honfleur. He remains a painter of the great French tradition, inspired by nature.

The town of Falaise pays homage to the artist with a museum, endowed with 90 works which reflect his life.
His work is characterised by a certain unity which however distinguishes four different periods you can discover in this museum of Falaise.

Opening times
From 1st April to 30th September, and December : daily from 10am to 12.30 and from 13.30am to 6pm
In july and August, non stop opening from 10am to 18pm
From 1st October to 31 st March : open on week-ends, bank holidays and school holidays from 10am to 12.30 and from 1.30 to 6pm


Annual closing from 16th of january till 4 th of february
Groups : opening all year on demand.
